Building Design Process & Evaluation

DNR Building Evaluation and Design Assistance Project
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is in the process of designing and building a number of Area Offices throughout the state. The purpose of this research project is to provide feedback on projects that have already been constructed and to develop an effective approach to the design of new area office facilities.
Post Occupancy Evaluations of DNR Area Office Headquarters at Tower & Windom, Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources construct and remodel a number of facilities every year including area offices and parks facilities. Since 1997 the MnDNR Facility Services Department has set itself on a course of a conscious review of its area office facilities to learn from the agencies past experience and provide high performance buildings that represent the best investment of state money over the life cycle of each project.
SWMCB Post Occupancy Evaluations
CSBR conducted post occupancy evaluations of five sustainable pilot projects built by counties in the metropolitan area. The study includes an inventory of sustainable design practices, their costs and benefits, and an evaluation of the effectiveness of the design and construction process. The buildings studied are located in Hennepin, Ramsey, Carver, and Dakota Counties. The project was sponsored by the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board (SWMCB).
