Patrick Smith, Research Fellow, LEED AP, smit2059@umn.edu
Patrick Smith is a Research Fellow at the Center for Sustainable Building Research at the University of Minnesota. He is currently working to provide technical assistance to projects that require several green building criteria for state bonded and non-profit funded housing projects. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, Mathematics and Physics from Carleton College and a Masters in Architecture from the University of Minnesota. He is currently finishing a Masters in Science in Architecture from the University of Minnesota with a focus on sustainable design. His research experience includes energy modeling comparison of single family housing criteria, code compliance, and writing for the Minnesota Sustainable Housing Initiative web site. Previous to his current appointment, Patrick worked in precision tool manufacturing, at several architecture firms in the Twin Cities, and as a graduate research assistant for the CSBR. Other interests include housing and energy policy, transportation network efficiency, development patterns and energy efficient and low-impact design. Outside of the office Patrick is a runner, ultimate disc player, and hiker.
